Bwana Asifiwe!

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.
Bwana Asifiwe is Swahili for Praise the Lord! Bwana Asifiwe is how Christians in Kenya begin their meetings, and Bwana Asifiwe is how I will begin.

I never thought I would ever visit Africa, let alone minister in Kenya. But God had other plans and provided a way for me to go.
It’s hard to describe the impact Kenya had on me – the sights and sounds, the atmosphere and the feel of the land – everything! It’s all so different: the red earth, the flowering trees and plants, the blades of grass, the sounds of the insects and birdsong, geckos climbing the walls, a wandering Mongoose and even monkeys on the roof. I was drinking it all in with wide-eyed wonder.

And the traffic in Nairobi!

Nothing quite prepares you for the traffic in Nairobi. It’s INSANE! Everything that can be on the road comes at you from all directions. Things that don’t belong on the road (herds of goats, cattle, dogs, etc.) you name it, it was probably on the road. Except for cyclists, there were no cyclists (thank God for small mercies).

The Mission Trip was for three weeks. We flew out on the 9th of June to Nairobi. We had a small team of four: Rebecca King, Heather Clayton, Tonya Noll and myself. We stayed in a beautiful suburb in Nairobi, which acted as our base of operations for the Nairobi Intensive. Over 30 church leaders attended. It was a challenging time of teaching and ministry. Holy Spirit spoke into our old religious mindsets that limit us, rob us of our freedoms and shut down forms and expressions of receiving revelation and inspiration.

Holy Spirit began breaking down our barriers and breaking out with new life and new ways of serving and ministry. But more importantly, Holy Spirit was teaching us the importance of purity in the life of Prophets and the prophetic. He was bringing us to the place of repentance and cleansing us from corruption and compromise.

One of the many standout moments for me was when I heard the Kenyans worship unaccompanied. It was so powerful, wonderful and joyful (videos and recordings don’t do it justice). The sheer force of it hit me in my chest. I felt it physically; it moved me emotionally too. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it before. It was the spiritual force that the Kenyans carry. It was the presence of God moving through them as the Kenyans love to move.

I made new friends there. They have warm hearts and deep faith.

God loves Kenya…and now so do I!

I would like to thank Rebecca, Heather and Tonya. It was a pleasure to serve with you, you made my first experience of Africa and Kenya exciting, challenging and fun (we certainly had a lot of laughs along the way).
And thank you to those who donated to our mission and making this trip possible.
