BEAT THE BRUISE
Today feels different
Yesterday is no longer
Something has shifted
I feel so much stronger
My heart feels so light
It’s soft and it’s loving
That feeling of self pity
Has had a good shoving
I stood up from bed
I heard a strange sound
Of chains that were breaking
And hitting the ground
I’d realised He’d done it
My Jesus had won
The offences I’d nurtured
Were gone, they were none
Don’t hold a grudge friends
Don’t try to keep score
Forgive and forget guys
Please remember no more
It’s only you that drinks poison
That burns you within
You are the loser
And nobody wins
Jesus taught unity
To love and to honour
Those that He sends
There efforts don’t smother
For we are his children
We all grow together
Don’t think you know all
Be humble, be better
Learn to take stock
To number your days
Make each moment matter
Greet each day with praise
Pray for your family
And pray for your friends
Love and please cherish
The people He sends
For times are changing
We need to be ready
We need others near us
Who are solid and steady
Don’t battle alone friend
It’s a battle you’ll lose
Love all who God sends you
And try not to bruise

HE WALKED WITH ME ON WATER
I surrendered today
I gave up the fight
I reached up to heaven
I followed the light
Too long in the darkness
Believing a lie
That I’d never make it
Looking low never high
Yet when the scales fell
My eyes they opened
I gazed upon hell
And all that I’d broken
I fell to my knees
I coughed up the dirt
Then Jesus reached down
And pulled me up by my shirt
I was almost a goner
I’d jumped overboard
Instead of addressing the storm
And the enemies hoards
But through the white horses
In the distance I saw
My friend walk towards me
Call my name through the squall
Step out of the boat
Don’t believe that it’s sinking
My daughter, it’s lies
It’s just your own thinking
So quiet your soul
Put your hand on my shoulder
I’ll help you and steady you
As we walk on the water
Rise above it, all you see
It’s all an illusion
Please will you trust me
Harken to my voice child
And listen real close
You’ve got to stop this
Stop throwing these blows
So I looked at my friend
I did what He said
He told me my past
To Him was now dead
So he handed me a clean slate
And skimmed the old one away
He walked with me on water
In the dawn of a new day
