2026: Change is a Hopeful Journey

Welcome to the fresh page every New Year offers—a beautiful invitation to begin again. Real and lasting change—if that’s your desire—starts in the mind and heart long before the clock strikes midnight. Change is a hopeful journey. It often begins with a holy restlessness (something I call 'Divine Agony'), which gives birth to the desire for more, and it is deeply supported by practices like the examen—a prayer popularized by St. Ignatius.

In the examen, we set ourselves apart for God, become aware of His loving presence, give thanks, and then gently look at our lives through the lens of our emotions, which help reveal what’s happening within. This growing awareness often leads us into life-giving repentance where needed, and then into a hopeful, Spirit-led vision for what’s ahead. As we walk through this process, we’re increasingly able to see and understand through the eyes of the Lord Jesus, loosening our grip on ‘self’ and growing in freedom.

Many of us move through this journey with God without even realizing it. That’s why the change you long for rarely appears out of nowhere—it has been quietly and faithfully forming in you all along.

Some prophets and movements love to stir hope with words like “suddenlies” and “acceleration,” highlighting the beautiful truth that God can move in powerful moments. Yet the deepest transformation I’ve known comes from the slow, steady journey of walking with Jesus day by day. Over time, He shapes a tender heart and solid character, pouring out a rich oil of anointing—and that’s where real spiritual weight is found.

When our lives are rooted in this kind of ongoing process with Him, our words don’t just sound right; they carry life, substance, and lasting impact.

As I look ahead to what prophets will look and sound like in 2026 and beyond, I sense an incredible opportunity for deep, Spirit-led growth. We don’t have to keep circling the same camps, repeating the same language, and staying only where we feel comfortable with people who sound just like us.

You’re invited to take intentional time with the Lord and ask Him about you—about your journey, your calling, and your willingness to follow Him beyond familiar places. Instead of simply affirming where you are, ask Him to show you why comfort can feel so safe, what it might look like to stand with Him even if it feels lonely, and how to reach for something new that may not resemble what’s been done before. To step into your own unique calling, you’ll be invited beyond what has been familiar and standard for you over the last ten or twenty years—and that’s a beautiful sign of growth. Take courage, my friends; new ground with God awaits you.

For years, many of us have invested energy in discovering who we are—and that’s valuable—but now we have a fresh chance to build not around ourselves, but around Jesus. Embracing this shift can free us from feeling stuck and open us to the very process that transforms us and restores Jesus to His rightful place at the center of everything.

What hurts at times is that many of us don’t yet realize how free we could be in stepping out from the crowd and daring to live like Jesus. Still, I believe that awareness is growing. Little by little, more of us are choosing to see clearly, even when it means standing alone or being different. And as our movements—yes, even the ones that claim to embrace diversity—continue to evolve, we have a powerful opportunity to truly honour each prophet’s (and prophesier’s) uniqueness and create spaces where difference is not just tolerated, but celebrated.

2026 will be a year when the Holy Spirit gently and firmly invites some of you to fully embrace His word over your life and begin living from that truth. The joy, fulfillment, and reward of walking in who you really are will far surpass any applause that comes from simply blending in.

You’ve grown beyond needing that kind of affirmation. What your heart truly longs for is to be who He created you to be—boldly, freely, and without apology.

If you desire to be a leader who truly stands out, this is your moment to step forward: to walk out from the crowd, move ahead with Him, and let your life reflect the unique calling He has placed on you.

A very Happy New Year to each one of you, and one that is filled with His joy, having spent time in His glorious ‘House of Wine’, underneath His banner over you, which is love.
